A pickup van helper has been killed when a passenger bus hit it on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Anarpura area under Gazaria upazil in the district on Monday afternoon.
Witnesses said the pickup van plunged into the roadside ditch when the bus hit it, leaving its helper dead on the spot around 5:30pm.
Bhaberchar police outpost Sub-inspector Delwar Hossain said police have recovered the body of the pickup van helper and rescued its injured driver.
The driver has been rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
However, none of their identities could be ascertained immediately.
The bus could not be seized as it sped away after hitting the van, said the police official.
