Update : 08 Jun 2014, 04:06 PM

The High Court has upheld the sentence of a death row convict and a lifer in the case of killing Masiur Rahman Parvez, a sand businessman, at Keraniganj of Dhaka in 2006.

The High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Shahidul Karim has upheld the punishment on Sunday for two convicts on death reference and appeals filed by the duo.

On November 12, 2008, a Dhaka Court handed down death penalty for Abul Kalam Palash, who stabbed Parvez to death, and life imprisonment for Nurei Alam Zipu, who assisted in the killing. Both the convicts are siblings.

Deputy Attorney General Farhad Ahmed has told the Dhaka Tribune that the murder was committed over business feud among them.

SC lawyer Rehan Hossain contended for the two convicts.
