A complaint was filed against nine people including Chittagong central jail senior jail super with Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court over a “suicide” incident in the prison.
Earlier, Md Jakir Hossain reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the stair railing of the second floor of the jail on June 3.
Jakir's younger bother Mohammad Yakub Kaiser filed a complaint with the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Moshiur Rahman around 10:45am on Sunday alleging that the suspects killed Jakir.
The complaint was filed mentioning the names of nine people while the names of numerous others were also made accused in the complaint.
The nine accused are -- Chittagong central jail Senior Jail Super Md Sagir Mia, Jailer Nisar Ahmed, Jail Medical Officer Dr Mostafizur Rahman, former Subedars Amju Mia and Humayun Kabir, Chief Jail Guards Mohammad Hossain and Abdur Rashid, Jail Guards Mohammad Alam and Ziabul Islam.
Of them, former Subedars Amju Mia and Humayun Kabir were given stand release from the jail soon after the incident of suicide.
Taking the complaint into cognizance, the court ordered Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police's detective branch, Kushum Dewan to investigate the matter.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of CMP Mohammad Rezaul Masud confirmed about the complaint to the Dhaka Tribune.
