PM leaves Kunming for Beijing

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left for Beijing after wrapping of her first visit to southern Chinese city of Kunming on Sunday morning.

On June 6, Sheikh Hasina arrived at Kunming on a six-day official visit to China at the invitation of her Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang.

The prime minister and her entourage members departed Changshui International Airport, Kunming by a flight of China Southern Airlines at about 10:30am local time, reports BSS.

They are expected to reach Beijing International Airport at about 2 pm.

Liu Zhenmin, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of China, will receive Sheikh Hasina at the Beijing International Airport.

After a warm welcome at the airport, the Prime Minister will be taken to Diaoyutai State Guest House through a ceremonial motorcade where she will reside during her stay in Beijing.

Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will place wreaths at the Monument of the People's Heroes at Tiananmen Square.

On Monday, Sheikh Hasina will deliver her keynote speech at China Institute of International Studies.

She will later hold official talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang which will be followed by a signing ceremony. In the evening, she will attend a banquet to be hosted by her Chinese

counterpart.

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister will deliver a keynote speech at the Bangladesh China Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum.

Sheikh Hasina will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng.

The Prime Minister will give interviews with CCTV, Phoenix TV, Yunnan TV and Bangla Department of China Radio International.

She will also attend a cultural performance by students of Bangla Department of Communication University, China.

Sheikh Hasina will leave Beijing for home in the morning of June 11 and will arrive in Dhaka in the afternoon the same day.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, PM's Advisor on Political Affairs HT Imam, PM's Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque and PM's Press Secretary AKM Shamim Chowdhury, among others, are accompanying the Prime Minister during her visit to China.

Besides, a 70-member business delegation is also visiting with Sheikh Hasina.

During her stay in Kunming, the Prime Minister attended the inaugural ceremony of China-South Asia Expo at Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Centre and delivered her speech.

She also delivered her keynote speech at the China-South Asia Business Forum.

Besides, Sheikh Hasina had a meeting with Vice Premier of China Wang Yang and attended a banquet hosted by Yunnan Province Governor Li Jiheng.
