Police have arrested Chhatra League president of Osmani Medical College unit for his alleged involvement in medical student and also JCD leader Tauhid murder case on Saturday night.
The arrestee is Soumen Dey, president of BCL Osmani Medical College unit.
Rahmat Ullah, additional deputy commissioner of Sylhet metropolitan police, told to the Dhaka Tribune that Soumen was arrested from Sylhet railway station around 10pm.
He was trying to flee away, he added.
Earlier in the day, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College authority expelled 10 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League including Saumen Day for their alleged involvement in the killing.
Tauhidul Islam, a fourth year student of MBBS 49th batch and also a JDC leader, was beaten to death by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday (June 4).
Later, Tauhidul succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
Anwar Hossain Matbor, uncle of Deceased Towhidul filled a case against 20 people, including 10 BCL activists at Kotwali police station regarding the murder.
