A missing school teacher has been found dead in Naresatong area in Roangchhari upazila of the district on Friday.
The deceased is Upru Marma, 23, a school teacher of Ananda School run by BRAC, a Non-Government Organisation (NGO).
Roangchari police station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan said: “Upru Marma went to Roangchhari Bazar around 9am on Friday but she did not return home.”
“Locals found her body at 11:30pm at the valley of Naresatong hill of Bangchhari. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.”
The criminals might have killed her after rape as she has some injury marks on the body, he said.
The body has been sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Police and locals suspected Rohingyas’ involvement in the murder.
District Police Super Devdas Bhattacharia said a case has been filed in this connection and police is trying to identify the criminals.
