It has been twenty years since Moushumi has been active on the silver and small screens.The Qayamat Theke Qayamat girl holds a unique position in the industry who is still at the top position for two decades in the history of Dhallywood. Dhaka Tribune had the opportunity interview the diva about her journey in the glamour world:
How do you look upon your two decades in Dhallywood?
From the director of my first film to all the directors I have worked till now, I am grateful to them for my present position. From shooting crews to co-artists—I am grateful to everyone. I am thankful to my father, my husband Omar Sunny, and the rest of my family members. But my audiences deserve my utmost thankfulness. Without their love and acceptance, I would not be who I am.
Who is Moushumi in the heart of audiences?
Audience's love has kept me young. I can't believe that I have already spent such a long period in the industry. I still get the same response as I used to get in the early stage of my career. In between, the difference is just that I have lost some of my beloved colleagues.
You also lost your first co-actor Salman Shah …
I still feel sad for him. He was my first co-actor of my first film. It’s not possible to forget him. Both of us worked together in Qayamat Theke Qayamat, Ontore Ontore, Sneho and Denmohor. Four of our films were successful in cinemas and songs of those films were everywhere.
How did you manage to keep up while most of your contemporary heroines have faded away?
Honestly, I never considered anyone as my competition. I always think about myself. I believe that my work will fix my position. May be I have worked in something that has touched mass audience’s heart. This is the biggest achievement of my life. I don’t want to think like this. I want to live with the love of my audience, and through my works.
How is working as UNICEF's goodwill ambassador for Bangladesh?
To protect child right, I am working as ambassador of UNICEF. I am working along with Jewel Aich, and cricketer Shakib Al Hasan. My goal is to protect and promote child rights for a developed country and change the society and its norms.

Now I am working on a political plot based film titled Leader. I am playing the role of a politician in the film. Another project is going on titled Tarkata directed by M M kamal Raz. My upcoming film Ek Cup Cha will hit the cinemas soon.
What about your next directorial project for Impress Telefilms?
I am occupied with a few projects. So I am going through a very busy time. I will start working on this project after finishing my current engagements. Last time, my film got three national awards in different categories, this time I am targeting more awards.
