Two people, including a minor girl, were killed and seven others received injuries in three separate road accidents in the capital yesterday.
Police said the incidents took place at Tejgaon, Uttarkhan and Demra in the early hours of the day.
A six-year-old girl, Sumaiya Akhter, was killed after being hit by a CNG-run auto rickshaw around 5pm at Bhuiyanbari of Uttakhan. She was on her way to a nearby kitchen market with her elder sister from their Maddyapara residence.
Locals rushed her to a local hospital where on duty doctors declared her dead at around 12:30am. In other incident, Samarjit Chandra Das, 60, an employee of Palli Bidyut Samity, sustained injuries after being hit by a speeding bus at around 11am in front of BAF Shaheen College. He was on the way to his office.
Passers-by rescued him and rushed to the DMCH where he succumbed to his injuries after one and a half hours.
Meanwhile, a CNG-run auto rickshaw, carrying six women passengers to a wedding ceremony, toppled over near the Konanapara bridge of Demra around 7am after being hit by a truck from behind.
