Akash of Armanitola High School and Labiba of South Breeze School emerged as the champions in the boy’s and girl’s section in the Walton Dhaka Metropolis School Table Tennis at the Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium yesterday.
In their respective final matches, Akash beat Raihan of Ahmed Bawani Academy by 3-0 games while Labiba outplayed Urmi of Prayash by the same margin to lift the title.
Lalbagh Model School’s Junaed and Saiham of Ahmed Bawani finished third and fourth in the boy’s section respectively while Sweety of Prayash and Azimpur Girls School’s Fatin finished third and fourth in the girl’s section.
Armanitola High School also overpowered St. Joseph High School by 3-1 sets to bag the boy’s team title while the girl’s team event was won by Sunnydale who overwhelmed Prayash 3-0 in the final.
The most talented players in the boy’s and girl’s section went to Scholastica’s Raiyan and Rukaiya Hossain Meem respectively.
Communication minister Obaidul Kader distributed the prizes as the chief guest. BTTF general secretary Zobera Rahman Linu, former national champion Mosaddekul Huq Rochi and Walton additional director AFM Iqbal bin Anwar Dawn was also present among others.
