Another victim of the Tejgaon fire incident has succumbed to his injuries at the ICU of Dhaka Medical college Hospital’s Burn unit on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased Jahirul Islam, 60, a van-puller, succumbed to 34% burns around 4:20pm, said burn unit Resident Medical Officer Partha Shankar Pal.
Earlier, four more victims, who received severe burns after a fire broke out at a shop in the capital’s Tejgaon area on April 10, have succumbed to their injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
They are Ibrahim Khalil, 35, who suffered 91% burn; Shafiul Azam, 48, died from 95% burn injuries; Motaleb, 14, died with 75% burns while Abdul Latif, 58, died with 96% burns.
The fire broke out at Mahfuz Sewing and Service shop in the capital’s Tejgaon area, leaving 11 people burnt.
Two of the injured were still in a critical condition and was receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital burn unit.
They were shop owner Mahmudul Hasan, 38, who suffered 35% burn injury, and Zakir Hossain, 38, a security guard of a garment unit who suffered 25% burn.
