A woman was allegedly tortured to death by her husband at Purba Thana Para under Dighinala upazila of Khagrachhari district.
The deceased was identified as Rumi Akhter, 25, wife of Monirul Islam of Purba Thana Para area.
Meanwhile, police have arrested her husband Monirul in connection with the killing.
Dighinala police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shahdat Hossaun Titu said: “Rumi was inhumanly tortured by her husband Monirul Islam over a trivial family matters on Monday night.”
“At a stage, Rumi became senseless and dead sometime Monday night; he said quoting family members and locals.
The OC said Monirul and his family members hanged Rumi’s body to the ceiling of their houses to make it look like suicide.
He said police recovered the body in the morning and sent it to Khagrachhari Modern Sadar Hospital.
Deceased’s elder brother Anwar Hossain lodged a cased with Dighinala police station.
