At least seven people were killed in separate road accidents that took place in Noakhali, Chapainawabganj, Chittagong, Faridpur and Satkhira yesterday.
Three persons have been killed and four others injured as a tractor rammed an auto-rickshaw in Charkakra union of Companiganj upazila in the early hours of the day.
The deceased were identified as auto rickshaw driver Habib, 38, passengers Alamgir Hossain Mirza, 30 and Harun, 25.
Companiganj police station Officer-in-Charge Sajedur Rahman confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the deaths.
He said a tractor rammed an auto rickshaw in the area around 1am that left three dead on the spot and four others injured.
The injured were admitted to Companiganj Health Complex, Noakhali Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, a minor boy was killed in a road accident on the Shobganj-Sonamoshjid Highway in Chapainawabganj, yesterday morning.
Local people said at about 11:30am, when Oliullah, 9, son of Ramzan Ali of Boliadighi Montu Member Para area of the district, had been crossing the road, a Shonamoshjid-bound truck had hit him.
The locals rescued him in critical condition. He died later, on the way to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex.
The body was sent to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
A case was filed, but no one was arrested.
In Chittagong, a man was killed when a bus hit a covered van at Barabkunda in Sitakunda upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shahidullah Manik, 40, son of late Rowshonuzzaman at Mandaritala village in the upazila.
In Faridpur, a retired army official, Nasiruddin Sikder, 50, was killed and 20 people were injured when a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Bikash
Paribahan’ from Faridpur hit a roadside tree after colliding with a motorcycle at Basantapur on Dhaka-Khulna highway on Sunday noon.
Nasiruddin hailed from Danga Durgapur in Gopalganj.
In Satkhira, an elderly man was killed when he fell from a human hauler on Satkhira-Khulna road at Benerpota on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Biswanath Roy, 70, a resident of Parkhukrali in Satkhira municipality area.
Separate cases were filed in this connection.
