Cox’s Bazar ready to greet New Year

Thousands of tourists have swarmed Cox’s Bazar sea beach as Pahela Boishakh, the first day of Begali New Year 1421, begins today. 

Cox’s Bazar district administration and Sammilita Sangskritik Jote will organise various events celebrating the day. 

All the preparations have already been completed for Pahela Boishakh revelry through various functions at Public Library Shaheed Daulat Maidan from 8am to 11am. 

The day will be welcomed with Rabindranath Tagore’s famous song Esho He Boishakh Esho Esho. 

Apart from the district administration and Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, various social, cultural and sports organisations will hold various programmes. 

As well as amusement programme, Panta Ilish, Shutki Bharta, Ilish Bhuna, Bhuna Khechuri will be available. 

Police have taken special measures for ensuring the celebrations without any unpleasant incidents. 

All hotels, motels and restaurants have also taken special preparations for treating their customers. 

Cox’s Bazar Hotel Motel Owners’ Association’s General Secretary Abul Kashem Sikder said, “All the hotels, motels are being swarmed with tourists from home and abroad.” 

“A festive mood has begun at various tourism and recreation sports here well before the New Year begins.” 

Cox’s Bazar Sammilita Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Najibul Islam said, “We are celebrating the Pahela Baishakh in coordination with the district administration.” 

“Our programme will begin through Mongol Shobhajatra at 8am from the central Shaheed Minar. This will be held in two phases – morning and afternoon.” 

A total of 12 social and cultural organisations will hold various programme at the premises of the Shaheed Minar. 

PR Officer of five-star hotel Ocean Paradise Sayeed Alamgir said, “We have planned three-day programme, honouring the Bengali culture. We will set up 12 stalls where folklore culture-related products will be available.” 

“We will also organise Lalon songs for the tourists from home and abroad. Other hotels will also organise various programme today.” 

Additional Superintendent of Police Tofail Ahmed said, “We have taken strict measures to celebrate the day smoothly.” 

“As well as uniformed police, plainclothes police will be on duty all the day.” 

Deputy Commissioner Md Ruhul Amin said, “We have taken various programmes to celebrate the day.”
