Clash at Fine Arts Institute, 2 injured

Two persons have been injured in a clash between the students of Fine Arts Institute and Surja Sen Hall residents of Dhaka University on Sunday evening.

Witnesses said Arif; a former student of Dhaka University was speaking over his mobile phone while standing beside a wall where the Fine Arts students were painting ahead of Pahela Baishakh.

The Fine Arts students asked Arif to leave the place. However, Arif refused to leave.

Meanwhile, the angry students pushed him and drove him away.

Later, Arif along with his 30 juniors at Surja Sen Hall went to the Fine Arts Institute and attacked the students triggering a clash that left Arif and Fine Arts student Shipon injured.

Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique and Proctor Amzad Ali rushed to the spot and calmed the situation with the help of law enforcers.

“The incident emerged following a misunderstanding. Now the situation is under control,” said DU Proctor Amzad Ali.
