Tangail clash injures 10

At least 10 people including a police constable were injured in a fierce clash between the inhabitants of two villages centring Baishakhi fair stall at Gopalpur upazila in the district Sunday morning.

Gopalpur police station Officer-in-Charge Md Shahidullah said a group of Sandarpara villagers beat Kabir, 9, son of Momtaz uddin of Nandanpur village in brawl to have a stall of Baishakhi fair in the Gopalpur upazila.

Later, inhabitants of the two villages locked into a clash with local weapons, he added.

Meanwhile, five shops were vandalised.

Police opened 30 rounds of rubber bullets and propelled 10 teargas shells to disperse the clash, the OC said.

The injured were rushed to Gopalpur upazila health complex.
