President Abdul Hamid has urged the students to build themselves as worthy citizens to help the country achieve economic emancipation.
The president was addressing a reception to the students who received scholarship in talent pool for Primary Terminal Examination and GPA 5 in 2013 Junior School Certificate Examinations at Baghmara upazila in Rajshahi on Saturday afternoon.
He handed over medals to eight local eminent personalities and two reputed organisations.
"We are yet to fully achieve economic emancipation of common people though we achieved liberation under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971,” he said.
“Bangabandhu always wanted to see a beautiful and prosperous Bangladesh. I expect you [students] will play an active role in implementing his dream,” said Abdul Hamid.
The president also called upon the students to practice of art, literature, culture and sports along with regular study for improving their life more,” he said.
He came to the upazila at 12 noon by a helicopter for a four-hour visit.
