A seven-year-old boy, who sustained injuries after being beaten over a trivial matter, has succumbed to his injuries at Chandpur Government Hospital on Saturday morning.
The deceased Shanto Mollah, son of Abdus Sukkur Mollah, of Shaheb Bazar area in Bagadi union under Chandpur sadar upazila, died at Chandpur Government Hospital in the morning.
Shanto’s mother Shimu Begum said: “Shanto picked a flower up from his school garden on April 1. Seeing him with the flower, Shah Alam Gazi of a nearby house beat him severely. At one point, he banged Shanto on the ground and made him swim in the pond in critical condition.”
Later, Shanto’s elder brother Sujon rescued him from the place.
He was admitted at Chandpur Government Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Chandpur model police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Qaiyum said: “We received a complaint against Shah Alam, Nurul Gazi and the Head Master of the school Humayun Kabir. Police is investigating the matter.”
