BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has said the live video clips that were telecasted in different private television channels proved that “the January 5 poll was not free and fair at all.”
She said: “The television video reports that were telecasted during the polls have showN no presence of voters. Moreover, it has been seen that the casting of votes was not underway fairly as the ruling party members were seen rigging votes.
Awami League’s claim of arranging the national election in a free, fair and neutral manner has been proved false after those reports were telecasted,” she added.
She made the statement while addressing the council of Jatiyatabadi Shramik Dal at Engineers’ Institute auditorium on Saturday afternoon.
The BNP chief claimed that zero votes have been casted in some 57 centres adding that 90% people of the country believe that Awami League could not arrange fair polls, so they did not cast votes in the “farcical election.”
The present government has killed the democracy by holding such “farcical poll,” she added.
Terming the government as an illegal one, she said: “The present government is not an elected one. Moreover, the speaker and the leader of the opposition party in the parliament were also not elected by the votes of people.
The 10th parliament is also illegal like the present Awami League government,” added Khaleda.
Mentioning that the law and order situation has been deteriorated in the country after the Awami League assumed the power, the former premier said: “The illegal government cannot maintain the law and order situation. It is unable to curb terrorism and crimes in the country.”
