DMP: Wrap up celebration by 6pm

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has asked all to close down the Pahela Baishakh celebrations programmes in open spaces by 6pm.

DMP Commissioner Benazir Ahmed made the call at a press conference at DMP Media and Public Relations Centre on Saturday morning.

He also sought cooperation from people of all walks of life to ensure security during the Pahela Baishakh celebrations.

He said: “Multi-layered security measures have been taken to ensure security in the capital for the celebration of Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the year of the Bengali calendar.

People of all walks of life are being requested to co-operate with the law enforcers to maintain the law and order situation during the fest and no anti-cultural acts will be allowed during the Baishakh festival,” he added.

Replying to a query, the DMP commissioner said: "We have planed the security measures keeping in mind all the visible and invisible risks. The security measures have taken using out maximum strength."

“Two units of law enforcers, including detective police will be monitoring militant activities.”

City dwellers are also requested not to carry any kinds of arms, explosives, handbags at Ramna Batamul, TSC and its adjoining areas.

The DMP commissioner urged all not to smoke in open place and put addresses in the pockets of children.
