Rangpur bus plunge kills 4

At least four people have been killed and 20 others injured as a passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch after it collided with a truck on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in Pirganj upazila in the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased are bus passengers Momena Begum, 40, Mohammad Nuruzzman, 25, Manik Mian, 28, and Osman Gani, 28, of different villages under Dimla upazila of Nilphamari district.

Pirgtanj police station Officer-in-Charge Sirajul Islam said: “The Nilphamari-bound passenger bus of Ena Enterprise collided head-on with a Bogra-bound stone-laden truck and fell into a roadside ditch around 5:45am, leaving four people dead on the spot and 20 others injured.

Later, police rescued the injured people and admitted them at Pirganj Upazila Health Complex,” he added.
