15 hurt in Jhenaidah clash

At least 15 people have been injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a school managing committee election, which is scheduled to be held on May, at Siddi village of Shailakupa upazila in Jhenaidah on Friday morning.

Of the injured, Nazrul and Elahi were admitted at Shailakupa Health Complex in critical condition.

Shailakupa police station Officer- in-Charge Moniruzzaman Mollah said: “Two groups led by Tapan Bishwas and UP chairman Tuzam Mia locked into clashes over the managing committee election of Bakai Siddi High School after the headmaster of the school enlisted a dead man as voter. 15 people were injured in the incident at around 11:00am.”

He said: “The situation is now brought under control and additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid any unwanted situation.”
