Thirty nine pint four per cent adolescents aged between 15 and 19 suffer malnutrition in the country due to lack of knowledge on reproductive health, say speakers at a discussion.
The discussion on “reproductive health of the adolescents” has been held at Jagorani Chakra Foundation conference room in the town on Thursday.
Referring different survey reports, the speakers said some 135 female adolescents in the country, have to undergo through the experience of giving birth to children in every one thousand which is the highest rate in the world.
According to the discussion, one percent female and eight percent male of the adolescents get the experience of sexuality before marriage.
Jagorani Chakra Foundation and Gono Shakhorata Abhijan jointly organised the discussion where Azadul Kabir Arju, executive director, Jagorani Chakra Foundation, Shamima Akhter Chowdhury, master trainer, Association for Prevention of Septic Abortion, Bangladesh, Khaleda Habib, deputy programme manager, Gono Shakhorata Abhijan and journalists Fakir Shoukat, Shahadat Hossain Kabil, Shikdar Khalid and M Ayub, among others, spoke in the meeting.
