Save the Sports urges corruption free sports arena

Update : 09 Apr 2014, 04:32 PM

Save the Sports, an organisation of sports organisers, urged the countrymen to take the necessary steps to stop the corruption, anomaly and partiality currently existing in the sports arena.

In a press conference held at the National Press Club yesterday, Zakaria Pintu, the captain of Swadhin Bangla Football Team and the convener of Save the Sports, was critical of the existing scenario. “What we see is all the sports federations are overall surrounded by corruption and nepotism, many proven and able organisers are not involved in the federation activities,” said Pintu.

Member secretary Dildar Hossain Dilu said the recently concluded ICC World T20 was a festival of corruption. “A purse of Tk1.13bn was allotted for the beautification of the capital but I think10 percent of the fund was used, the tickets allocated for the journalists were sold in high prices by the BCB officials and employees,” said Dilu.

Advisors Pratap Shankar Hazra and Khairul Kabir Khokon were also present on the occasion.
