Bangladesh is now capable of generating 11,000MW of electricity, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said at a programme in the capital.
The prime minister was speaking at the inaugural of the much awaited Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital in Uttara.
“Bangladesh was once known as a country of terrorism, militancy and corruption in the world,” she said.
“But now it has become a role model for the good governance of Awami League. We will turn Bangladesh into a middle income country by 2021.”
“Bangladesh will be a developed country by 2041,” she added.
On March 27, Bangladesh set a record for producing the highest amount of electricity, 7,032MW, in the history of the country.
On November 12 last year, the country observed gala celebrations for achieving the milestone of 10,000MW power production capability.
