Authorities have detained a person with 16 gold bars worth around Tk80 lakh from Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport.
The detainee, Munir Mahfuz, hailing from Fatikchhari, was caught with the gold around 10:30am on Wednesday, authorities said.
Chittagong airport customs Assistant Commissioner Moshiur Rahman said the man arrived in Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight back from Dubai.
The haul was made acting upon a tip-off, he added.
Gold haul have emerged as a frequent incident in the recent times at both the Dhaka and Chittagong airports.
