A teenager has been shot dead by Indian Khasia group in the borders of Gwainghat upazila in Sylhet on Tuesday, two-day after three Bangladeshis were beaten to death in Tripura.
The victim Delwar Hossain, 18, was the son of Shah Alam, of Bagaia Muslim Para of Gwainghat upazila, according to police.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 5 Adhinayak Lt Col Mazharul Islam said Delwar was shot dead by a Khasia group near Bichankandi border on Tuesday.
“He was shot dead while collecting firewood in the border around 1:30pm. We are trying to bring back the body as soon as possible,” he said around 6pm.
BGB sources said the body would be brought back after a flag meeting with Indian Border Security Forces (BSF).
On Sunday, three Bangladeshis were beaten to death by a mob in Khowai city, Tripura. Indian border troopers “regretted the incident and assured of actions.”
The killing of this Bangladeshi youth takes places a day after the Government of Bangladesh protested the killing of those three nationals on Monday.
