A man consumed poison in a bid to kill himself after murdering his wife and son at Kazimosa village in Paikgachha upazila early Tuesday.
Paikgachha police station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Kamal Hossain said Dipak Das chopped his wife Anima Das, 35, and son Sajib Das, 7, to death with a sharp weapon at one stage of brawl around 3:30am, leaving them dead on the spot.
Later, he took poison in a bid to end his life. Neighbours found him on his yard in the morning and informed police.
Police arrested him and got him admitted to the upazila health complex under their custody.
Police also recovered the bodies and sent those to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Dipak had been passing life amid disappointment due to economic hardship. The couple had often locked in quarrel over the issue, said the OC quoting neighbours.
