A person has been killed as three compartments of a Chittagong-bound passenger train derailed in Mirsarai on Monday afternoon.
Imtiaz Mia, officer-in-charge of Mirsarai police station, confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune about the death.
However, the identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
AA Shamsul Alam, station manager of Chittagong Railway Station, told the Dhaka Tribune that three compartments of Karnafuli Express derailed in Mirsarai around 1pm.
Rescue train has been sent to clear the line, he added.
Details regarding the incident were awaited.
