Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have seized 50,000 pieces of the banned narcotic yaba tablets worth around Tk1.5 crore from Jaliapara area in Shah Pori Island of Teknaf upazila of the district on Sunday.
Lieutenant Colonel Abu Jar Al Zahid, commander of BGB 42 in Teknaf said: “Acting on a tip off, BGB personnel raided one Ismail Hossain’s house in Jaliapara area and seized 5000 yaba tablets, while another 45,000 pieces were seized from a nearby area at 12:30pm.”
However, BGB failed to arrest anyone as Ismail fled the scene sensing the sudden raid, he added.
A case will be filed with Teknaf police station in this connection, said Abu Jar Al Zahid.
