Non-food inflation in March, 2014 declined by 0.11%, according to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Sunday.
The non-food inflation stood at 5.26% form 5.37% in February.
However, the point-to-point national inflation in march has soared by 0.04% as it reached 7.48% from 7.44% in February.
“The inflation increased slightly as the businessmen are trying to recover their losses imposing additional price, which they had incurred during the political instability last year,” Golam Mostafa Kamal, BBS Director General, told reporters while releasing the monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) at a press conference in his office.
He said the food inflation also soared by 0.12% in March mainly due to upward trend of some food items.
The national food inflation stood at 8.96%, up from 8.84% in February this year.
The point-to-point inflation rate in March, 2013 was 7.55%.
