A tourist has died after being hit by a speed boat while bathing in the sea at Laboni point at Cox’s Bazar on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Tazul Islam, 25, son of Nazrul Islam, a private university student in Dhaka, hailing from Bogra.
Police detained speed boat driver Ziabul in this connection.
Cox’s Bazar tourist police Officer-in-Charge Zakir Hossain Mahmud said: “He was rushed to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital after being hit by the speed boat. He died at the hospital at around 11:30am.”
Victim’s friend Jasim Uddin said they were on a trip to Cox’s Bazar.
