Today is the 83rd birth anniversary of Mahanayika Suchitra Sen. Paying tribute to the legendary actor who is one of the most loved screen personalities of all ages to the Bangla film lovers, art gallery Shilpangan is opening a special exhibition titled Serenading Suchitra today.
The exhibition will feature artworks of 30 promising and seasoned painters including Hamiduzzaman Khan, Sheikh Afzal, Goutam Chakrabarty, Shamsuddoha, Ranjit Das, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Jamal Ahmed, Syed Iqbal, Bikash, Aloptogin Tushar, Rashid Amin, Javed Jalil, Krishna Chattapadhyay and Gulshan Hossain.
Rumi Noman, member-secretary of Shilpangan Trust, said: We can undoubtedly say that she lived in our imagination more than she did in movies. She existed and still remains as an enigmatic personality, profusely endowed with our affection, love and imagination. She remains in our hearts as the powerful persona of the black and white era of films - an icon of the modern woman, an embodiment of the beautiful actress that she was. Our endeavour is to remember and cherish her as we knew her to be. This exhibition is a tribute by the painters of Bangladesh as part of this endeavour.”
The exhibition will be inaugurated by educationist Burhanuddin Khan Jahangir at the Shilpangan Gallery where writer Selina Hossain is scheduled to speak. The exhibition will continue till April 19.
