Some five police members were injured in a “gunfight” between law enforcers and suspected terrorists at Radhapur village under Lakshmipur Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon.
The injured are Assistant Sub-Inspector Sohel Mia, Constables Arfan Uddin, Shomon Bhuiyan, Shahbuddin and Nurul Islam.
Sadar police station Inspector (Investigation) Rakibul Hasan said: “Acting on a tip-off, we raided Radhapur village. But sensing our presence the terrorists opened fire on us.
In retaliation, police also fired back that triggered the “gunfight,” leaving five police men injured,” he added.
Later, police detained one of the terrorists Md Nur Uddin, 22, with a local gun and two rounds of bullets from the spot.
However, the other criminals fled the spot.
