IGP stresses coordination among SAARC police

Update : 03 Apr 2014, 12:47 PM

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmood Khandker has put stress on coordination among the police forces in the SAARC countries in a bid to fight against the “transnational crimes.”

The Bangladesh Police chief made the remarks while addressing the concluding session of a training course on “Transnational Crime: SAARC Perspective” at the Police Staff College in the capital’s Mirpur area on Thursday.

He said: “The transnational community has been failing to harmonise legislations and responses collectively because of the ongoing internationally supported terrorism.”

The IGP further said the police in the SAARC countries would have to work together in order to fight against the terrorism, cyber crimes, money laundering, human and drugs trafficking activities due to their geographical location.

A total of 18 police officials from Bangladesh, India, Maldeep and Bhutan participated in the three-week-long training course. At the end of the function, the IGP also distributed certificates among the participants.
