At least four labourers have died and three others injured in a bridge collapse at Borun village on Kapasia-Kaliganj road in Gazipur on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Haru Mia, Abu Bakkar, Azgar Ali and Shahjahan.
Kapasia UNO Alauddin Ali confirmed about the bridge collapse to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “A new bridge is being constructed in the area. The labourers were working on the old bridge when it collapsed around 8:30am that killed four of them.”
The injured have been admitted to Kapasia Upazila Health Complex.
Kapasia police station Officer-in-Charge Ahsan Ullah said: “The bodies were sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue with the help of locals.”
