PM: No plan to increase govt service age-limit

Update : 02 Apr 2014, 02:09 PM

The government has no plan on increasing the age-limit for entering the government service, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

She made the statement while responding to a supplementary question from treasury bench member Shahidul Islam Selim in the Jatiya Sangsad during the Prime Minister's question-answer session in the House, reported BSS.

Sheikh Hasina said: “Classes and examinations are being held in all educational institutions timely despite some untoward incidents. As a result, session jam has been reduced and students are passing out timely.

So there is no need to increase the age-limit for entering the government job," she said adding, such enhancement would not be beneficial for the job seekers.

Replying to another supplementary question from Nazrul Islam, the Prime Minister said the government, if necessary, would go tough to ensure presence of doctors and teachers in rural areas.

"We will presume that those doctors need no job, if they don't stay in their working place in rural areas," she said.
