Agitated students have locked up teachers at Dhaka University alleging unfair treatment at the Department of Political Science on Wednesday.
Chairman of the department Nurul Amin Bepari and six other teachers were locked up in the department around 11am in the morning.
A section of the masters’ students of the political science department said they received bad grades in tests because of “negligence of the department.”
There were two sections to the masters department.
Students of section B said they were given junior teachers compared to experienced and skilled faculty of the other section since first year.
“The results that came out are unacceptable,” a student Imtiaz Tarek said. “The lowest mark obtained in section A is the highest of section B.”
Demonstrating students said they would continue their movement until the university authorities would take steps to clear “this differentiation.”
The students began demonstration around 10:30am and soon locked up their department located on the fourth floor of the social science building.
The authorities were trying to talk to way out of the problem since last reported after noon.
