A labourer has died and another one injured as they accidentally fell from a hill while cutting it at Paharika area under Khulshi police station in Chittagong early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Md Yunus, 60, of Bhola district.
Khulshi police station Officer-in-Charge Mainul Islam Bhuiyan said: “Yunus and Md Jaffar fell from the hill around 12:30am while some labourers were illegally cutting it.”
Later, they were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where Yunus succumbed to his injuries.
The OC said police have detained a truck driver, Fozlu, 30, and his helper Abu Alim, 25, in this connection. They also sustained injuries during the incident.
