One dies in Moulvibazar BGB chase

A man died falling into the roadside pond after being chased by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) near at polling centre in Rajnagar upazila of Moulvibazar on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Shamim Ahmed, 50.

Mohammad Ashraful Islam, assistant superintendent of police of Moulvibazar, has confirmed the death incident to the Dhaka Tribune.

The BGB men asked the crowd to leave the place who gathered near Gobindabati Government Primary School polling centre but they defied, Ashraful said.

Later, the law personnel chased them to dirperse. During the time, one Ashraful fell on the pond nearby the polling centre and died on the spot.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.
