Malaysia positive for illegal Bangladeshis

Illegal Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia might get another chance to register themselves as legal.

Visiting Malaysian Foreign Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi made the disclosure while meeting with Expatriates' Welfare & Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain at his ministry on Monday in the capital, said a press release issued from Press Information Department (PID).

Ahmad Zahid said: “Malaysian government is considering to legalise the illegal Bangladeshi workers who had failed earlier to register themselves in the country under the program of 6-P.”

Earlier, about 2, 67,000 Bangladeshi workers had been legalised under the program.

The 6P programme which was initiated in October 2011 and ended September 2013, referred to six processes in resolving the issue of illegal foreign workers and immigrants in the country.
