At least four people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents that took place in Natore, Rajshahi, Tangail and Comilla yesterday.
Police said when Montu Mia, 30, son of Azim Uddin of village Khazura under Natore Sadar upazila, had been going to his native home, a head-on collision between a shallow-engine-run vehicle commonly known as Nasimon and a CNG-run-auto rickshaw had taken place in Dighapatia area around 9am, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he died at Natore Adhunik Sadar Hospital.
Meanwhile, four people were injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Banbelghoria bypass area of the district around 8:30pm.
In Rajshahi, one person was killed in a road accident in Mirjapur Jamuna area under Godagari upazila. The deceased was identified as Golam Mostofa Golap, 60, of Namosankerbati Menipara village under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila.
Locals said Mostofa was returning home by a human haulier suddenly, he fell on the road from the vehicle.
The human hauler ran over him around 1:45 pm.
He died on the spot.
In Tangail, a motorcyclist was killed and a female rider was injured at Kalihati upaizla under Tangail.
The deceased was identified as Tipu Sultan, a resident of Kaouljani village under Basail upazila of the district.
In Comilla, two people were killed when a truck hit a roadside tree at Mainamoti at about 1pm.
The deceased was identified as Jamal Uddin Babul, 38, bus drivers, and Faruk Hossain, 23, helper of the driver.
