Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh has said the Bangladeshi people who went to India after 1971 and settled in Assam or elsewhere in the country are illegal migrants, an Indian daily reports.
The BJP chief made the statement while addressing a rally at Karimganj in Barak Valley in India on Sunday.
"Necessary action will be taken against the illegal Bangladeshi migrants," Singh said.
He said they do not have any problem if anybody goes to the country with proper passport, visa or work permit
“If BJP comes to power, we will institute an inquiry to find out how so many people of a particular community could enter the country illegally and settle down,” Singh added..
“But we cannot accept if they do not go back and settle down here,” Indian Express quoted Singh.
The Hindus, who are being harassed in Bangladesh and forced to flee that country would not be treated as refugees, but must be show sympathy for their situation, he said.
