Update : 29 Mar 2014, 06:52 PM

There was no alternative to build a mass-resistance to establish a corruption-free society, speakers at a discussion said.

Stressing the need for forging a social movement against corruption, they added that community participation had become indispensable to make the anti-corruption campaign a total success.

District Corruption Prevention Committee organised the discussion in Borokuthi Resort in Rajshahi yesterday to mark the Corruption Resistance Week 2014.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr ANM Bazlur Rashid addressed the discussion as the chief guest with the committee President Advocate Mohsin Khan in the chair.

Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission Nazrul Islam, Committee Vice-President Professor Shirin Sufiya Khanom, General Secretary Dr Tasiqul Islam Raja and member Maolana Maksud Ullah also spoke as special guests.

The speakers viewed that wide participation of community people in the service sector could curb corruption and they underlined the need for enhancing empowerment of the community people so that they could raise voice against any sort of corruption and monopoly.
