Chhatra Dal-police clash injures 10 in Sirajganj

Ten people have been injured in a clash between police and Chhatra Dal in Sirajganj on Saturday morning.

District Chhatra Dal Convener Anwar Hossain Reza said: “Chhatra Dal leaders and activists were holding a rally in front of BNP party office on EB road demanding the release of their party Joint Convener Abdul Alim who had been arrested in a case filed for torching a train.”

“Police stopped the party members when they brought out a procession after holding the rally,” he said.

At a stage, Chhatra Dal members locked into a clash with the police personnel around 11:30am.

Meanwhile, police also charged baton and fired rubber bullets that left 10 people injured.

Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Habibul said: “They attacked and hurled bricks and bats targeting police.”

He said police later fired some 30 rounds of rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.
