A mother, her daughter and grandson have sustained burn injuries in an explosion of a gas cylinder at Noakhalibari of Mojibarghat in Kamrangirchar in the capital on Saturday morning.
Injured Aklima Begum, 50, her daughter Joli Akhter, 28, and 2-year-old grandson Alif were rushed to the Burnt and Plastic Surgery Unit at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Doctors at the hospital told the Dhaka Tribune that condition of all the three victims was stated to be critical as they sustained burns to their entire bodies.
Ramjan Ali, the husband of injured Joli, said the explosion of the gas cylinder might have taken place at around 11:30am due to a leakage at the pipeline between the cylinder and the burner at their house.
A mechanic by profession, Ramjan said they had been using the gas cylinder due to disruption in the gas supply by the Titas Gas.
