The officer-in-charge of Gazaria police station of Munshiganj has been withdrawn on charge of his negligence in duty and failure to prevent violence during the fourth phase upazila polls.
Mamunur Rashid has been closed to Munshiganj police lines.
Zakir Hossain, acting police superintendent of Munshiganj, said the home ministry has taken the move on direction of the Election Commission.
“We are trying to keep the post poll situation in Gazaria under control,” said Zakir Hossain.
Lucky Begum, 32, a housewife of Munshiganj, succumbed to her injuries on Friday morning.
She received bullet injuries during the violence centering upazila polls on March 23.
On March 24, Gazaria law affairs secretary of upazila Chhatra League Mahbubur Rahman Joton, 22, succumbed to his injuries.
On March 23, Chairman of Gazaria union parishad Shamsuddin Prodhan was killed in a clash between two groups of ruling Awami League during the fourth phase upazila polls.
