The railway communication between Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes have resumed nearly 3 hours after a compartment of a train was derailed at Lalmai area under Comilla Sadar Dakkhin uapzila on Friday morning.
Assistant Traffic Officer Omar Faruk said a compartment of Chittagong-bound Jalalabad Express went off the track at around 10am.
Later, a rescue train came around 11am and cleared the line. Train communications are now normal on these routes, he added.
Due to the derailment, different trains from and to Chittagong had to be halted in different railway stations, said railway sources.
Besides, the schedules of Dhaka and Sylhet bound trains from Chittagong may be delayed due to the derailment.
