Celebrated musician Bappa Mazumder is all set with his new composition of a patriotic song Bangalir Joy written by Syed Shamsul Haque. It is the theme song of the programme titled Lakho Konthe Shonar Bangla.
Lakho Konthe Shonar Bangla is arranged for celebrating the country’s 44th Independence Day on March 26. The main aim of the programme is to set a new Guinness World Record where 3 lakh people will stand together to sing the National anthem at the Parade Ground.
Bappa Mazumder also composed Robi's theme song for ICC T20 World Cup. Recently Dhaka Tribune caught up with the musician in an interview:
You have composed Robi's theme song for ICC T20 World Cup and two patriotic songs. What is your take on patriotism?
In the song, I have worked with the spirit of patriotism and the song also relates to cricket. I want my listeners to be able to sing the song after listening to it. I have also worked on a new version of the timeless golden song of Dwijendralal Ray – Dhono Dhanne Pushpe Bhora – that has been prepared for airing on the occasion of the upcoming Independence Day. I must say that remaking the song in a new way is praiseworthy. All the singers sang this song with the spirit of patriotism. I have also composed a special patriotic song written by prolific writer Syed Shamsul Haque with lyrics: Bangalir Joy/Joy Banglar Dhonitey Ekattor/Shonitey Lekha Jonoker Naam Bangabandhu Mujibur, Joy Joy Bangla/Joy Joy Joy. While composing this song, I felt the power of people’s song.
During the work on these three songs, I felt the spirit of patriotism working within myself. I understood the duty towards my country and my feelings of patriotism.
How did you manage to complete the tasks back to back?
It was a huge pressure on me. I even suffered from high blood pressure while I was working on these songs. The love and dedication I feel for my country inspired me to keep going and finally I am done.
What is your reaction?
I am so excited. I am feeling so privileged and honoured. I am really very glad for the opportunity to compose music on the lyrics of Syed Shamsul Haque. This is one of my greatest achievements.
Tell us about your recent projects?
Right now I am busy with these songs. I am giving final touch to them. After this month, I will start working on my new album.
