A thousand votes said to have been cast in 40 minutes in one of the polling stations in Jessore Sadar upazila during the upazila election on Sunday.
This effectively means that a vote was effectively cast in every two seconds – what is nearly impossible. But apparently, this has happened.
When Dhaka Tribune visited Birmanpur Government Primary School 40 minutes after votes began at 8am in the morning, 1,000 votes have been cast already.
A nervous Presiding Officer Ziaur Rahman has admitted that such was “very unusual. Generally such a thing did not happen in any previous occasions.”
But as people say, impossible is nothing.
