A fire broke out at multi-storied shopping mall Multiplan Centre at capital’s Elephant Road on Saturday night.
Officials of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) and police said the fire broke out at the shopping mall at around 9pm. At least 11 units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and were trying to douse it.
“No casualty was yet to be reported and the cause of the fire could not be known immediately”, said Mohammad Ali of the FSCD.
Police and local people also joined hands for putting out the fire, witnesses said.
Witnesses and police said transport movement on the road in front of the shopping mall and its adjacent area remained suspended creating a severe traffic jam and panic among the commuters.
